Terms of Service

Spliqy Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Innova Venturer Company ("Spliqy", "we", "us"), which runs Spliqy. They apply to everyone who uses Spliqy, in the United States, Indonesia and elsewhere. Where a rule is different for users in the United States or in Indonesia, these Terms say so.
1. About these Terms
These Terms cover the web app at app.spliqy.com, the Spliqy mobile apps, the website at spliqy.com, and any link sent through Spliqy, such as a bill or payment link.
You accept these Terms when you create an account. If you use Spliqy without an account (as a guest), or open a link someone shared with you, these Terms apply to that use too.
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect and how we use it. It is part of these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use Spliqy.
2. Who can use Spliqy
You must be 13 or older to use Spliqy. Spliqy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If you live in Indonesia, you must be 18 or older. Spliqy is not available to users in Indonesia who are under 18.
By creating an account, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that any age information you give us is true. If you use Spliqy when you are not allowed to, or give false age information, you are responsible for the consequences, and we may suspend or delete your account and its data at any time, without notice where the law allows.
A parent or guardian who believes their child is using Spliqy can contact us at developer@spliqy.com, and we will delete the account.
3. Accounts and guest use
You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Google. You agree to:
- give an email address you own and can receive mail at, and verify it when asked;
- keep your password private and not share your account;
- tell us at developer@spliqy.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
You are responsible for what happens in your account unless it was caused by our failure to protect it.
Some features, such as a single bill split, work without an account. A guest split is tied to your browser, not to you. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, you may lose access to it. If you sign up later in the same browser, we try to move your recent guest splits into your new account, but we cannot guarantee it.
4. What Spliqy does, and what it does not do
Spliqy helps you work out who owes what for shared spending and keep track of who has paid. You can split a single bill, collect many receipts into a shared group and settle them together, invite the people you split with, and record repayments.
Spliqy is not a payment service. We never hold, move or receive money for you or anyone else. Every repayment happens outside Spliqy, by bank transfer, payment app, e-wallet, cash or any other way you and your friends choose. In particular:
- marking a share as paid, or sending a proof of transfer, only records what the people involved say happened. It does not move money or prove that money arrived;
- we do not check that a transfer, cash payment or proof is real;
- debts between you and the people you split with are between you and them. Spliqy is not a party to them and does not collect, guarantee or enforce them.
Spliqy is a tool for friends, roommates and groups sharing everyday costs. It is not a lending, accounting or tax service, and you should not rely on it as one.
5. AI-read receipts: check before you share
Spliqy uses AI to read receipt photos, understand voice and typed instructions, and calculate each person's share. To do this, your receipt images, voice recordings and instructions are sent to our AI providers (currently OpenAI and Google). The Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
AI can make mistakes. It can misread a price, miss or repeat an item, assign an item to the wrong person, or handle tax, service charge or tips differently from the receipt. Amounts Spliqy shows are estimates until you check them. So:
- you are responsible for checking the items, prices, totals and who-owes-what before you share a result or ask anyone to pay;
- you can edit any item, price or assignment, and you should fix anything that looks wrong;
- Spliqy may refuse an image that does not look like a receipt.
If you or someone you split with pays the wrong amount because a result was not checked, settle the difference between yourselves. Spliqy is not responsible for that amount (see section 15).
6. Splitting with other people
Adding people. You can add people to a split or group by name only, by email address, or by sharing a link (for example by text message or WhatsApp). Only add someone's email address or phone number if they are actually part of the expense and would expect to hear from you about it. When you add an email address, Spliqy may send that person an invitation, payment details and reminders on your behalf.
Shared links. Anyone who has a bill or payment link can open it, so share links only with the people involved. If a link reaches the wrong person, tell us and we can help you replace it.
Groups. In a shared group, every member can see the group's receipts, items, totals, who owes whom, and the notes and repayment records attached to them. Do not add anything to a group you would not want every member to see.
Who confirms a repayment. The person who is owed the money confirms that it was received. When a friend, not you, paid the bill, that friend confirms repayments once they have a verified Spliqy account. Until then, you may be able to confirm on their behalf after a waiting period. Only confirm a payment you know was received.
Proofs and notes. If you send a proof of transfer, it must be a real, unedited record of a payment you made. If you send a cash note, it must describe a payment you actually made. The person you paid can confirm or decline it.
Reminders. Spliqy lets you remind people who still owe you, with a limit on how often. Use reminders to settle real shared expenses, not to pressure, shame or harass anyone.
7. Your payout account details
You can save a bank account, e-wallet or payment app account in Spliqy so friends know where to send repayments. If you do:
- add only an account that is yours, or one you are allowed to use to receive the money;
- remember that Spliqy shows these details to the people who owe you, in invitation and reminder emails and payment links;
- keep them up to date. Spliqy is not responsible for money sent to an account that was wrong or out of date.
Never enter card numbers, PINs, passwords or one-time codes anywhere in Spliqy. We will never ask for them.
8. Your content
"Your content" means what you put into Spliqy: receipt photos, voice recordings, typed instructions, names, items, amounts, notes, proofs of transfer and similar material. You keep ownership of it.
You give Spliqy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, copy, process and display your content, and to send it to our service providers, only as needed to run Spliqy, show it to the people you share with, keep Spliqy secure, and improve it. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law and data that has been anonymized.
We may keep and use data that has been anonymized so it can no longer identify you or anyone else (for example, the items and prices on a receipt with all names removed) to measure and improve Spliqy, including its receipt reading. We will not try to re-identify it.
You confirm that you have the right to upload your content, and that it does not include other people's personal data beyond what is needed to split the expense.
9. Acceptable use
When you use Spliqy, you must not:
- upload fake, edited or someone else's receipts, proofs of transfer or payment notes to make someone pay more or to claim a payment you did not make;
- use Spliqy to scam, defraud or mislead anyone, or to collect money that is not owed;
- add people, emails or phone numbers that have nothing to do with the expense, or use invitations and reminders to spam, threaten or harass anyone;
- upload content that is illegal, sexual, violent, hateful, or that exposes someone's private information without a reason connected to the expense;
- use Spliqy for money laundering, gambling debts, or any other illegal activity;
- try to make the AI features do something other than split a bill, for example by putting instructions in a receipt, note or custom split prompt;
- access another person's account, split, group or link without permission, or try to get around limits such as the number of draft groups or the reminder interval;
- scrape, copy, reverse-engineer, overload or disrupt Spliqy, or probe it for weaknesses without our written permission (if you find a security issue, please report it to developer@spliqy.com);
- use Spliqy to build a competing product, or resell it.
We may remove content or limit features that break these rules.
10. Limits, storage and expiry
Spliqy does not keep everything forever. Save anything you need elsewhere, such as a screenshot of a result or a copy of a proof of transfer.
| What | How long it stays |
|---|---|
| Images you upload (receipts, proofs of transfer) | Viewable for 1 year from upload, then shown as expired and deleted 10 days later |
| Guest splits (made without an account) | Until 30 days after anyone last saved, opened or paid on them; then names, emails and images are removed and the split stops working |
| Your account's splits and groups | Until you delete them or your account |
We may set reasonable limits to keep Spliqy working for everyone, for example on the number of draft groups, the number of people in a split, file sizes, or how often reminders can be sent. We show these limits in the app where they apply.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. To protect the people you split with, you cannot delete it in the app while you still owe money or are owed money in any split or group, or while a shared group you created is not settled. Settle or close those first; the app shows you which ones are open. If you cannot settle them, email developer@spliqy.com and we will delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy.
When you delete your account, we delete your profile and your data as described in the Privacy Policy. Some things stay:
- splits and groups you took part in remain visible to the other people in them, with your name shown as "Deleted user", so their records stay correct;
- we keep data we must keep by law, and anonymized data that cannot identify you;
- we keep your email address on a do-not-email list if you unsubscribed from our emails.
Deleting your account cannot be undone.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close your account, or limit features, if you break these Terms, if your use puts other users or Spliqy at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond first. You can stop using Spliqy at any time.
13. Changes to Spliqy and to these Terms
Spliqy is still being built. We may add, change or remove features, and some features may be marked as early or test versions that are less reliable.
We may update these Terms. Each version is dated and published at app.spliqy.com/legal/terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the law requires the change sooner. If you keep using Spliqy after the change takes effect, the new Terms apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
14. Fees
Spliqy is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features, we will show the price and terms before you pay, and existing free features will not start costing money without notice.
15. Disclaimers, limits on liability and indemnity
SPLIQY IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not promise that Spliqy will always be available or error-free, or that AI results will be correct.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Spliqy is not liable for:
- amounts paid or not paid between users, including because of an AI or calculation error you did not correct;
- money sent to a wrong or outdated payout account;
- disputes between you and the people you split with;
- losing access to a guest split, an expired image, or content you did not save elsewhere;
- indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost profits, data or opportunities.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO SPLIQY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF US$100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
Indemnity. If you break these Terms or the law while using Spliqy and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
Some places do not allow some of these exclusions, limits or the indemnity, so they may not apply to you. If you live in Indonesia, this section applies only as far as Indonesian law allows, and nothing in it limits your rights under Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that the law does not allow to be waived, or our liability for our own fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct.
16. Other services
Spliqy relies on other services, such as Google sign-in, cloud hosting, email delivery and AI providers, and may link to apps like WhatsApp. Their own terms apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for how they work.
17. Governing law and disputes
If you have a problem with Spliqy, please contact us first at developer@spliqy.com. We will try to resolve it within 30 days.
If you live in the United States or anywhere outside Indonesia: these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and by applicable US federal law. If we cannot resolve a dispute, either of us may bring a claim in the state or federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California, and we both agree to their jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies. If you live outside both the United States and Indonesia, the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live still apply to you.
If you live in Indonesia: these Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. If we cannot resolve a dispute, you may take it to a Consumer Dispute Settlement Body (Badan Penyelesaian Sengketa Konsumen, BPSK) or to the district court where you live, as Indonesian law allows.
18. Language and notices
These Terms are written in English. We will also publish them in Bahasa Indonesia. For users in Indonesia, once the Bahasa Indonesia version is published, both versions are valid, and if they differ, the Bahasa Indonesia version prevails. For everyone else, the English version controls.
You agree that we may send you notices electronically, by email or in the app, and that these satisfy any legal requirement that a notice be in writing.
California users: under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, you may contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs in writing at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by telephone at (800) 952-5210.
