Spliqy Privacy Policy
Spliqy helps you split bills with other people. To do that, we handle some sensitive things: what you spent, who you were with, who owes whom, and where to send repayments. This page tells you exactly what we collect, who sees it, and what you can do about it. It applies to everyone who uses Spliqy, in the United States, Indonesia and elsewhere; where the rules differ by country, it says so.
- We do not sell your personal data. We do not show ads, and we do not share your data with advertisers.
- Receipt photos and bill text are sent to AI providers (OpenAI and Google) so the app can read them.
- Anyone with a split's share link can see that split: names, items and amounts. Your bank, e-wallet or payment app account is not on the share link, but it is in the invitation and reminder emails sent to people who owe you.
- We do not record your screen. We do collect usage analytics and error reports, linked to your account.
- Photos are kept for 1 year, then deleted. Splits made without an account are anonymized 30 days after their last activity.
- You can delete your account yourself in the app, once your open balances are settled. You can also email us at developer@spliqy.com to see, correct, or delete your data.
Who we are
Spliqy is run by Innova Venturer Company, 2245 Latham St, Mountain View, California, United States ("Spliqy", "we", "us"). We decide how your personal data is used in Spliqy, so we are responsible for it.
This policy covers the Spliqy app at app.spliqy.com, the Spliqy mobile apps, and the website at spliqy.com. It is part of our Terms of Service.
Questions, requests, or complaints about your data: developer@spliqy.com. We reply within 7 days.
What we collect
We collect only what you give us, what the people you split with give us, and what the app records while you use it.

| People in a split | Names, and email addresses if added, of everyone in a split or group; who owes whom and how much | You or other members of a group |
| Proof of repayment | Photos of transfer receipts, notes about cash payments, the amount, and whether a payment was confirmed or declined | The person paying back, and the person being paid |

| Error reports | What went wrong, on which page, browser and device type, and how long requests took. Linked to your account ID and email when you're signed in. | The app, using Sentry and PostHog |
| AI usage records | Which AI feature was used, which provider, how much it cost, and whether it worked. Not the receipt content itself. | Our servers |
We do not record your screen. We stopped session recording on 9 October 2026; recordings made before then are deleted automatically within 30 days of being made.
We do not collect your contacts, your precise location, or your card numbers. We do not move money. Spliqy only records what people say they paid; the actual payment happens outside Spliqy, in your own bank, e-wallet or payment app.
Why we use it
We use your data only for the reasons below. If we want to use it for something new, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
| Why | What we use | Legal reason |
|---|---|---|
| Run your account and keep you signed in | Account details, Google sign-in details | Needed to provide the service you asked for |
| Read receipts and calculate who owes what | Receipts, items, amounts, people in a split, AI assistant messages, voice input | Needed to provide the service you asked for |
| Let others pay you back | Repayment details, proof of repayment | Needed to provide the service you asked for |
| Invite people and send reminders | Names and emails of people in a split; your repayment details when they owe you | Needed to provide the service you asked for; the person who added them is responsible for having a reason to contact them |
| Send account emails (verification, password reset, account deleted) | Email address | Needed to provide the service and keep your account secure |
| Keep a record of which Terms of Service you accepted | Terms acceptance | Legal obligation |
| Find bugs, prevent abuse, and keep the app secure | Usage data, error reports, activity in groups | Our legitimate interest in a working, safe app |
| Understand how the app is used so we can improve it | Usage data | Our legitimate interest in improving the app |
| Control our AI costs and catch failures | AI usage records | Our legitimate interest in running the service |
| Improve our services and models | Anonymized data from splits made without an account (see "How long we keep data") | Not personal data once anonymized |
| Follow the law | Any data a court or authority lawfully requires | Legal obligation |
We do not use your data to build advertising profiles. We do not use your receipts or bills to train AI models, except anonymized data from splits made without an account, as described in "How long we keep data".
How AI reads your receipts
When you upload a receipt photo, type a description of a bill, or speak one, we send that content to an outside AI provider. Two providers are used today:
- Google (Gemini) checks every receipt photo first: whether it is a receipt, whether it is clear enough to read, and whether it looks like a sensitive document such as an ID card, a bank card, or a banking-app screenshot. If it does, the app warns you before going further.
- OpenAI reads the receipt's items and amounts, powers the chat assistant, and turns voice recordings into text.
What this means for you:
- Anything visible on the receipt photo is sent. That can include the store's name and address, the date and time, the last digits of a card, or a loyalty number. Crop or cover anything you don't want sent before you upload.
- Anything you type or say to the assistant is sent, including the names of people you mention.
- Whether we keep the photo depends on where you use it. A photo used in a Single Split is sent for reading and is not stored by Spliqy. Photos in a group, and photos you save with Snap Now, are stored (see "How long we keep data").
- The AI can be wrong. Always check items and totals before you share a split or ask anyone to pay. The AI only reads the receipt; Spliqy's own code does the math.
- The providers process the content to give us the result. You can read how they handle data in OpenAI's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.
- We may change providers. If we do, we will update the list in "Service providers we use".
Who can see your information
Splitting a bill means other people see parts of it. Here is exactly who sees what.
| Who | What they can see |
|---|---|
| Anyone with a Single Split's share link | The split's title, total and currency, the names in it, each person's items and amounts, and who has paid. Not your repayment account, and not email addresses. The link works without signing in. For splits made without an account, it stops working 30 days after the split's last activity. Send it only to the people in the split. |
| People who owe you in a Single Split | Your display name, and your bank, e-wallet or payment app name and account number, in the invitation and reminder emails, so they know where to pay. If a friend paid the bill instead of you, your account number is left out. |
| The person a payment link was sent to | Their own share and the bill. A payment link sent to an email address only opens for the Spliqy account with that email. |
| Members of a group | The group's receipts and receipt photos, items, who was assigned what, every member's name, who owes whom, and the group's activity history |
| The two people in a repayment | The proof photo or cash note, the amount, and whether it was confirmed or declined. Other group members cannot open the proof photo. |
| Spliqy staff | Only a small number of authorized staff can access stored data, and only to run the service, fix problems, answer your requests, or meet a legal duty |
| Our service providers | Only what each one needs to do its job (see the next section) |
| Authorities | Only if the law requires us, for example by a valid court order. Where the law allows, we will tell you first. |
Photos older than one year can't be opened by anyone through the app.
If Spliqy is ever sold or merged with another company, your data may move to the new owner. They will have to follow this policy, and we will tell you before that happens.
Service providers we use
These companies process data for us. They may use it only to provide their service to Spliqy, not for their own purposes.
| Provider | What they do for us | What they receive | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, file storage, sign-in, server functions, scheduled clean-up jobs | All data stored in Spliqy | United States |
| Vercel | Hosts the website and app | Your IP address and browser details when you load a page | United States and global network |
| OpenAI | Reads receipts, powers the assistant, turns voice into text | Receipt photos, bill text, assistant messages, voice recordings | United States |
| Google (Gemini) | Checks each receipt photo before it is read | Receipt photos | United States and other Google locations |
| Google (Sign-in) | "Sign in with Google" | Confirms who you are; we receive your email and name | Global |
| Resend | Sends emails | Recipient email address and the email content | United States |
| PostHog | Usage analytics and error reports | Usage data and error reports, your IP address, and your account ID, email and name when you're signed in | United States |
| Sentry | Error reports and app performance | Error reports, browser and device type, and your account ID and email when you're signed in | United States |
We will update this list before we add a provider that receives personal data.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored and processed mainly in the United States. Our main database is in Supabase's US West region (California).
If you live outside the United States, including in Indonesia, using Spliqy means your data is transferred to and stored in the United States, which may not have the same data protection law as your country. When we transfer your data abroad, we use providers that are bound by contract to protect it and to use it only for Spliqy. If you do not want your data stored outside your country, please do not use the app, and contact us to delete what we already hold.
How long we keep data
Daily automatic jobs enforce the photo and guest-split rules below.
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Your account and profile, including repayment details | Until you delete your account |
| Splits and groups you created, with their items and amounts | Until you delete them or your account |
| Receipt photos in groups, and repayment proof photos | Shown for 1 year from upload. After that the app shows "Image expired" instead, and the file is permanently deleted 10 days later. The split itself, with its items and amounts, is kept. |
| Snap Now photos | Deleted once you add the receipt to a split or group, or when you delete it. Otherwise, the same 1-year rule as other photos. |
| Splits made without an account | Anonymized 30 days after their last activity (see below) |
| Group activity history | As long as the group exists |
| Notifications | Until your account is deleted |
| Records of emails sent, bounces, and unsubscribes | Until your account is deleted. We keep the record of your unsubscribe, and of the "account deleted" email, so we don't email you again. |
| Usage analytics (PostHog) | Up to 7 years, the limit of our PostHog plan. Your analytics profile is deleted when you delete your account. |
| Error reports (Sentry) | Up to 90 days |
| AI usage records | Kept for cost tracking; detached from you when you delete your account |
| Database backups | Up to 7 days after deletion, then overwritten. Backups do not contain photos. |
Splits made without an account
If you use Spliqy without an account, your split stays available while it's in use. 30 days after its last activity, the share link stops working and the split is anonymized: names are replaced with labels like "Person 1" and "Person 2", email addresses and payment-proof images are permanently removed, participants' names are removed from the title and item names, and dates are kept only to the day. What remains (merchant, items, prices and totals) is no longer linked to your name, your email address, or the share link. We may use this anonymized data to improve our services and models. We will not attempt to re-identify it, and we require anyone we share it with to make the same commitment.
"Activity" means saving or editing the split, opening it through its share or payment link, or uploading a payment proof.
If you typed a name or other personal detail into a bill title or item name, and it isn't the name of someone in the split, it may stay in the anonymized data. Please don't put personal details in titles or item names.
How we protect your data
No app can promise perfect security, and we won't pretend otherwise. Here is what we do today.
- Encrypted connections. Data between your device and Spliqy travels over HTTPS.
- Encrypted storage. Our database and file storage are encrypted at rest by our hosting provider.
- Access rules on every table and file. The database checks who you are before showing any row or file. You can see only your own account, splits you created, and groups you belong to.
- Private files. Receipt photos and repayment proofs are stored privately and shown through short-lived links, never permanent public addresses.
- Sensitive actions run only on our servers. Sending emails, deleting accounts, and the daily clean-up jobs can't be started from a browser.
- Passwords are never stored in readable form. Password-reset and email-verification links are single-use and expire.
- Deleting your account needs proof it's you. You type DELETE and re-enter your password, or sign in with Google again.
- Limits against abuse. We limit how often password resets and reminders can be requested.
- No screen recording. We don't record what you see or type in the app.
- Limited staff access. Only a small number of authorized staff can access production data.
What we can't protect: a share link sent to the wrong person, a shared or weak password, or a lost unlocked phone. Use a unique password and share links only with the people in the split.
If a breach happens that affects your personal data, we will tell you and the authorities that the law requires within 3 x 24 hours of finding out. We will say what happened, what data was affected, and what we are doing about it.
Found a security problem? Email developer@spliqy.com. We will not take legal action against people who report problems to us in good faith and don't misuse the data.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you have these rights over your personal data. To use any of them, email developer@spliqy.com from the address on your account. We may ask you to confirm it's you. Once we've confirmed it's you, we will act on your request within 3 x 24 hours and never later than 30 days. We won't charge you, and we won't treat you differently for using these rights.
| Right | What it means |
|---|---|
| See your data | Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and what we do with it |
| Correct it | Fix wrong or incomplete data. You can edit your name, phone, and repayment details yourself in Account details. |
| Delete it | Delete your account yourself in the app (see below), or ask us by email |
| Take it with you | Ask for your data in a common file format |
| Withdraw consent | Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time |
| Object or limit | Ask us to stop or limit a use of your data, such as analytics |
If you live in Indonesia, these rights come from Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection, and you can also complain to the Indonesian data protection authority.
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you have the rights that law gives you, including to know, correct and delete your personal data. We do not sell your personal data or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal data to infer things about you. An authorized agent may make a request for you if we can verify they act for you. If we refuse a request, you can ask us to reconsider by replying to our answer.
Do Not Track: Spliqy does not change how it collects data when your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal. We do not track you across other websites.
Deleting your account
Go to Account → Account details → Delete account, or open app.spliqy.com/account/delete. You'll type DELETE and confirm it's you with your password, or by signing in with Google again.
In the app, you can delete your account only once your open balances are settled: money you owe, money owed to you, or a shared group you created that isn't settled. The app shows you each one.
If you need your account deleted while a balance is still open, for example because the other person has stopped responding, email developer@spliqy.com from the address on your account. We will delete it for you within 3 x 24 hours of confirming it's you. Deleting your account does not cancel what anyone owes: the other people keep their record of the open balance, shown under "Deleted user".
When you delete your account:
- We delete your profile (including phone number and repayment details), the splits you created with their photos, your split history, your Snap Now photos, your notifications, your push notification settings, and the records of emails we sent you.
- Groups you created are deleted if no one else joined or no receipts were added. If other members joined and receipts were added, the group passes to the member who joined first, so their records stay intact.
- In other people's splits and groups, your name is replaced with "Deleted user" and your email address is removed. The amounts and history stay, because they are also the other people's records.
- Your analytics profile in PostHog is deleted.
- We keep your unsubscribe record and the record of the "account deleted" email, so we never email you again.
- You are signed out on every device, and we send you an email confirming the deletion.
Copies may remain in database backups for up to 7 days.
Other choices you can make:
- Turn push notifications on or off in your browser settings.
- Unsubscribe from Spliqy emails using the link in any email. You will still get emails you need for your account, like password resets.
- Remove your repayment details from Account details at any time.
- Delete splits you created.
If someone added you to a split
You may be in Spliqy without ever signing up, because a friend added your name or email to a bill. In that case:
- We hold only what your friend entered: your name, your email if they added it, what you ordered, and what you owe.
- If your email was added, we send you an invitation and, if your friend asks, payment reminders. We limit how often reminders can be sent.
- A payment link sent to your email only opens for a Spliqy account with that email.
- Every Spliqy email has an unsubscribe link. Once you unsubscribe, we stop sending you Spliqy emails.
- You have the same rights as any user. Email developer@spliqy.com to see, correct, or remove your details.
If you add other people: only add people who expect to split the bill with you, and only use their real email address if they're happy to get emails about it. If they owe you, their invitation email will include your repayment account details.
Children and teens
Spliqy is for people aged 13 and older, and 18 and older in Indonesia. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them or from anyone under 18 in Indonesia. If we learn that we hold such data, we delete it and close the account.
If you're a parent or guardian and think your child is using Spliqy, email developer@spliqy.com and we will delete their data.
Changes to this policy
When we change how we use your data, we publish a new version of this page with a new date. We keep every past version. For important changes, such as a new type of data or a new way of sharing it, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
Language
This policy is written in English. We will also publish it in Bahasa Indonesia. For users in Indonesia, once the Bahasa Indonesia version is published, if the two versions differ, the Bahasa Indonesia version prevails.
